What are the unemployment numbers really. According to the administration, the unemployment number is 8.5%. That is down, but what is that number really? With the holidays, a lot of people got temporary jobs. That number also doesn't account for people who just gave up on getting a job or they are so under employed they are not counted.
I personally know people with Master's degree in engineering who are food baggers. I recently heard the real number is 15.5%. Also the number for blacks is 15.8% and that's up from 15.5%. Why are we not getting the real figures?
Not all areas of the country are doing that badly either, so in areas were the unemployment is low like Oklahoma and Texas, those figures go into the mix making the administration look better. In reality, little has changed under this administration for the white or black workers except the blacks are suffering more.
I had trouble finding an article with the real numbers, so I got thisarticle from a year ago, but it basically states the real numbers from a year ago, and the it is not pretty. Of course, painting a nice picture is good for the economy and the President, but we need the truth. It is just making people angry to be lied to about the facts, and when you can't get a job, it hurts.

they have 're-classified' a ton of people as being "no longer in the workforce".
so by lowering the number of potential workers, they lower the percentage of unemployed ............

I have many siblings; they're hard-working and successful to a one...not a bum in the lot (with the exception of, perhaps, me ;). Sadly, they have no idea that they're being 'had,' nor to what degree. Nor will they have any of it. They occasionally ask me questions...only to retreat just as quickly. The worse matters become, the harder they work; it's their "solution." Recently, I've had some Bureaucratic Business and Legal matters to attend, along with one of my Sisters. At the close of one particularly-distasteful transaction, the Leftist we were dealing with smiled the most in-authentic and unfriendly smile I've seen to date, and extended his hand. I looked him in the eye and, with few well-chosen words, refused. My Sister was mortified. The following day, I was to fill some forms; and, almost non-chalantly, the HIPPA form was mingled amongst them, and passed off as a mere and harmless "technicality."
I said, "I'll complete your forms, Sir, but this. You may have that one to yourself, and, while I might suggest a thing or two, what you do with it is your choice."
"You won't sign it?" he asked. I looked him in the eye and told him I knew precisely what it is, and that NO, I wouldn't be signing. Stunned, he asked me if I worked in the Medical Field. Again, my Sister was mortified.
In either instance, my Sister scolded me with a half-hearted scolding. She snapped a "What do you know about that form? Good God, Brother...won't you let it rest just this once?"
But as we departed, and on both occasions, as I have recently told a friend, I needed only to look quickly over my shoulder, to see her smiling...

I know it's difficult, Fren; but, fight hard. And never give in.
As for annoying family, I've learned to keep it short and to the point in hopes seends are planted over time. I get these deer in the headlights looks but that's okay, they'll think about it and as time goes on things will ring familiar. No matter where I go I remind people to vote. I've yet to meet anyone who was dedicated enough to Obama to speak up ... else they were ashamed to admit it, ha.
You refusing to shake the Lib's hand was precious, lol, more of us should make that silent statement. Our actions DO count. In number they make a most important statement. They don't have to be big ones. But they do need to be representative of our true numbers.

if you want the government number that includes those that ran out of unemployment benefits, took part time jobs, and took jobs at huge salary losses, e3tc - you have to look at U6.
if you simply do a web search (i prefer bing) for u6, you will find the number.
most say the december 2011 number is 15.2%.
there is still some dispute, in that recently the government has decided that some people are not actually 'un-employed' - they are just "no longer in the work force" ..........
which of course is different - because of the spelling!.
